The Qur'an tells us not to waste food
“Eat and drink but waste not by extravagance,
certainly He (Allah) likes not those who waste by extravagance"
(Al-A'raf - 7:31).
MAA has received an Environmental Trust grant as part of the Love Food Hate Waste Program. With this grant we are working to close the loop by strategically intervening on the food waste issue in our community.
Closing the Loop on Food Waste in our Community
We started closing the gap on food waste in April 2017, by educating local NGOs on how to reduce food waste in their organisations. Some participating organisations included Brothers in Need, Mountaha's Helping Hand, Giving Back Australia, In Need of Help, and City Food 2U.
What Can You Do?
- Shop to your needs - make a shopping list
- Don’t shop while your hungry
- Ask for your leftovers when eating out
- Reuse your leftovers - it will save you time, money, effort, and food waste.
